The amc amx is a two-seat gt-style sports car that was produced by american motors corporation for the 1968 through 1970 model years. The amx was also classified as a muscle car, but "unique among other american cars at the time due to its short wheelbase". The amx was also the only american-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 ford thunderbird. To a degree, the amx was a competitor with america's only other two-seater of the era, the chevrolet corvette for substantially less money. With a one-inch (2. 5 cm) shorter wheelbase than chevrolet's two-seater, the amx was often seen by the press as a "corvette competitor". Gr auto gallery is pleased to present this 1970 amc amx for consideration. The '70 amx is all muscle car era excellence in a sharp red exterior paint with black leather interior. It's powered by a 390 cubic inch v8 engine and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Some key features on this amx include; headers, edelbrock intake, msd ignition, 600 holley carburetor, custom march pulleys, light ghost flames, stainless brake lines and fuel lines, stainless steel exhaust and mufflers, custom wood dash with autometer phantom gauges and much more. This vehicle was fully restored over the process of three years back in 2001. The owner has provided us with photographs taken throughout the entire process, and also a large binder full of receipts and service records that are available. Makes every effort to represent each vehicle accurately and with integrity. We also welcome third party inspections when necessary. Netoptions:description:1970 amc javelin mark donohue signature edition in the late 60's, as the "pony car wars" raged on the tracks of the trans am racing series across america, amc enticed the most successful team of the '68 season, roger penske and mark donohue to campaign the amc factory team cars during the 1970 - 1972 seasons. Amc also needed to homologate (or legalize) the new amc javelin's special features for the 1970 season. Scca rules mandated that at least 2500 units be built to production standards to support the new twin inlet ("ram air") hood scoop. The main objective was to legalize the use of the very special mark donohue designed rear deck spoiler. All production mark donohue signature edition javelins were based upon the fully optioned sst models and featured the distinctive and functional "ram air" hood and rear spoiler. In addition, the console floor shift was standard along with a fully trimmed deluxe bucket seat interior. Amc did not specifically denote or identify mark donohue signature edition javelins in vin, door tag, or body tag numbers. It is believed that amc produced 2501 of these mark donohue signature edition javelins. Regarding this mark donohue signature edition javelin for sale here, the original factory build sheet as well as some paperwork back to 1972 is included. It has all the desirable options including... (cg) convenience group (pp1) go pak (tgd) twin grip delete manufacture date jan 1970 body r020634 model 7079-7 trim 063f paint 84a prod # e054511 vin # aoc797p207036 the car currently shows just under 10,800 miles on the odometer, representing what is believed to be 110,650 miles. We purchased the car with a prior owner purporting that the odometer reading is believed to be accurate. A prestigious collector and highly respected amc restorer and enthusiast completed this car to an outstanding level of cosmetic and mechanical restoration that is both highly show and road worthy, and since that time she has been meticulously maintained. During her restoration, the 360 "wide web" unmarked factory engine was fully rebuilt to stock configuration except for a competition 268 h camshaft and valve train with complete "k" kit resulting in an incredibly high torque curve from 2200-5000 rpm range. It has the correct 391 c "dogleg" heads, offering superior dogleg exhaust port and studded rocker arm mounts. Her engine sounds wonderfully throaty and mean, and has a tremendous amount of power. These were original equipment and will outflow almost all other small block heads. The design is a product of the factory trans am racing effort in the late 60's, and culminated in the winning of the trans am championship in 1972 and 1973. For the 1970 season, the amc javelin trans am team missed a first place finish to ford by only 1 point. An upgraded aluminum intake manifold, finned aluminum valve covers and an edelbrock 650 cfm carburetor are also installed, however note that the original valve covers are included with the car. We have owned, restored and maintained various amc vehicles since the 70's, including several amx's and other show-winning javelins. This rare and exceptional donohue javelin has also been painstakingly maintained and cared for by us, and always stored indoors. Air Conditioning
