The amx is a two-seat gt-style sports car that was produced by american motors corporation from 1968 to 1970. The amx was also classified as a muscle car, but differed from other american cars at the time because of its short wheelbase. The name amx is actually an acronym for american motors experimental, which was a code assigned to concept vehicles in the mid-sixties. The amx was also the only american-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 ford thunderbird, and rivaled the only other two-seat american muscle car: the chevrolet corvette. With a short three-year production run, the amx was discontinued in 1970, and was replaced by the javelin from '71-'74. This classic amx makes quite the statement with the frost white covering the cool and vintage bodylines and the red racing stripe that matches the cars original interior. Under the hood of this 2nd owner car is the numbers matching 390 v8 that has been meticulously maintained and with the brand-new exhaust, produces a loud rumble that will turn some heads every time the pedal hits the floor. It had rack and pinion steering and a cross flow radiator. It also had larger doors which allowed more room for the passenger to get in and out easily. The pacer also had the best new car introduction in amc history. They had to increase production several times to keep up with the demand. The pacer was built with the consumer in mind, it wasn’t just another car pumped out of production lines to be offered for sale. The amc pacer offered here for sale comes with a big file of receipts and also a file of pacer club newsletters. It has had lots of little things replaced over the years according to the stack of receipts such as water pump, spark plugs, radiator hoses, muffler and exhaust components, shocks, struts, ac condenser and compressor, u joints, various oil changes and much more. 1970 amc amxvin a0c397p229793the previous owner of this '70 amx purchased the car in april of 2001 in paradise california they only drove the car on weekends for pleasure and the occasional car show. The previous owner completed the restoration which included refreshing the paint drivetrain interior and bright work. The undercarriage still has the factory spray with a light refreshing overspray and plenty of new suspension components. The interior remains in great condition the dashboard wood grain shines bright.
