The amx is a two-seat gt-style sports car that was produced by american motors corporation from 1968 to 1970. The amx was also classified as a muscle car, but differed from other american cars at the time because of its short wheelbase. The name amx is actually an acronym for american motors experimental, which was a code assigned to concept vehicles in the mid-sixties. The amx was also the only american-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 ford thunderbird, and rivaled the only other two-seat american muscle car: the chevrolet corvette. With a short three-year production run, the amx was discontinued in 1970, and was replaced by the javelin from '71-'74. This classic amx makes quite the statement with the frost white covering the cool and vintage bodylines and the red racing stripe that matches the cars original interior. Under the hood of this 2nd owner car is the numbers matching 390 v8 that has been meticulously maintained and with the brand-new exhaust, produces a loud rumble that will turn some heads every time the pedal hits the floor. The amx was also classified as a muscle car, but "unique among other american cars at the time due to its short wheelbase". The amx was also the only american-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 ford thunderbird. To a degree, the amx was a competitor with america's only other two-seater of the era, the chevrolet corvette for substantially less money. With a one-inch (2. 5 cm) shorter wheelbase than chevrolet's two-seater, the amx was often seen by the press as a "corvette competitor". It's powered by a 390 cubic inch v8 engine and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Some key features on this amx include; headers, edelbrock intake, msd ignition, 600 holley carburetor, custom march pulleys, light ghost flames, stainless brake lines and fuel lines, stainless steel exhaust and mufflers, custom wood dash with autometer phantom gauges and much more.
