The amx is a two-seat gt-style sports car that was produced by american motors corporation from 1968 to 1970. The amx was also classified as a muscle car, but differed from other american cars at the time because of its short wheelbase. The name amx is actually an acronym for american motors experimental, which was a code assigned to concept vehicles in the mid-sixties. The amx was also the only american-built steel-bodied two-seater of its time, the first since the 1955-1957 ford thunderbird, and rivaled the only other two-seat american muscle car: the chevrolet corvette. With a short three-year production run, the amx was discontinued in 1970, and was replaced by the javelin from '71-'74. This classic amx makes quite the statement with the frost white covering the cool and vintage bodylines and the red racing stripe that matches the cars original interior. Under the hood of this 2nd owner car is the numbers matching 390 v8 that has been meticulously maintained and with the brand-new exhaust, produces a loud rumble that will turn some heads every time the pedal hits the floor. The transmission is the original automatic that has been professionally rebuilt and shifts smooth throughout all gears. This amx is originally a california car, is an amc national show winner, has the original dealer sticker and warranty card and owner's manual, and has been restored to original using mostly new old-stock parts. B&M black pro magnum shifter. Rearend is a mopar 8 3/4. 4.56 gears and 35 spline dutchman axles and spool. 1350 yoke. Housing is back braced and narrowed. Car was a race car, turned into a pro street car. Chassis work is awesome. Car is backhalved and tubbed. Has original firewall and front floor pans. Aluminum tin work on backhalf with 4 link suspension and strange coil overs. Car has a ms 10pt rollcage with current 8.50 cert w/ 2yrs left and drivers swing out Paint and body is very nice Interior need carpet kit and headliner. Car has been rewired with painless style kit All autometer phantom gauges Rear can take up to an 18' wide tire, this a big tire car and can take a massive slick.  put billet specialties black streetlites on 15x12 and 15x4.5 with 26' mickey radials in the front and 315/60s in the back Car has a killer stance and  many new parts With old sbc car use to run 12.1 at 115, car weighs 3150 with person in it  Drove it to the track and back home. Car drives great and leaves hard and straight. With new bbc  it should run in the high 10s or low 11s on pump gas  Clean title in hand.
