The MG A design dates back to 1951, when head designer Syd Enever created a body for the Le Mans race car. After many re-designs due to some problem areas like seating position and suspension the A was built and went in to civilian production. It was a body on frame design that used a independent coil springs with wishbone front suspension and a rigid rear axle and a rack and pinion steering. The drivetrain was a take-away from the earlier saloon and was a 1489 cc engine that originally only put out 68 HP but was later upgraded to a staggering 72HP. Total production numbers for the seven year run was almost 60,000 units. The top is in good condition and so are the seats. The red paint shows wear as does some of the other cosmetics.

The 2 year frame off restoration was completed in september of 2015 the mga sports a great performing mgb 1800 3 main engine with a 3 syncro 4 speed transmission and 391 differential gear for highway cruising. The goal of the restoration was to blend racing and nostalgic themes, while adding or improving safety, serviceability and drive-ability features. In keeping with the sebring theme the radio is deleted; however the antenna is installed for future radio installation if desired. I like to describe this car as a new 1957 mga roadster.

These cars were vastly different from any MG prior featuring a wider chassis, lower seating position, a more powerful “B-series” motor etc. it also features independent suspension and rack and pinion steering. MGAs are ideal collector cars. They're affordable, simple to work on, rugged and attractive. Parts are readily available and moderately priced which can be surprising given the exotic appearance. The MGA offered here was loved and cared for very well and remains in excellent condition. Last year the carburetors were rebuilt and new air filters were installed. The car has chrome wire wheels with knock offs. It has a chrome luggage rack, Blaupunkt AM Stereo, jack and tool kit, wooden cockpit trim, full tonneau cover. The car features a 4 cylinder mated to a manual transmission. MGA's remain highly sought after among sports car and British motoring enthusiasts. Built for a total of seven years from 1955 through 1962, the MGA was designed by Syd Enever and was done so at the start of 1951. It was a body on frame design and used the B-series engine from the Magnette, the convertible had no exterior door handles and was offered with wire or steel wheels. It was equipped with the 1489 cc engine that produced 68 HP. The early cars tested in at nearly 100 MPH and could accelerate from 0-60 in 16 seconds with an average fuel economy of 26 MPG. This excellent example has been restored with driveability and safety in mind. The cars original steel wheels were replaced with knock off wires wrapped in 4 new tires. For cooling a external oil cooler was added along with electronic ignition. The generator was replaced with an alternator from a MGB and the front end is MGB along with Disc Brakes. All new suspension parts and bushings at that time as well. The radiator has been replaced and new Radio has been added.

The car was built between august 8 and september 8, 1955 making it just the 74th mga built according to bl heritage limited certificate. The car features an older restoration in its original orient red exterior paint over now black interior with black convertible top. Heritage limited also indicates that the car was an original wire wheel car. The car shows excellent in all areas still featuring excellent exterior paint, a wonderful interior with signature banjo style wheel, very tidy engine bay and stellar underside. Mechanically, the car is just of a fresh service from university motors in grand rapids, mi and drives out wonderful. The 1500 cc engine pulls strong in every gear, the suspension is tight and the handling is excellent. The exhaust puts off that distinct note of the early mg a sports cars. This car went through a complete mechanical and cosmetic nut and bolt restoration over a two year period and was completed in 2004. Since, the car has been cared for, routinely service, and thoroughly enjoyed by two owner enthusiasts. At the time of restoration, the was completely disassembled, the block was bore and honed to . 020 over, and assembled with newly polished crank, new pistons, valves, guides, rebuilt head etc. All mechanical aspects of the car including transmission, brakes, suspension etc. Were fully restored and / or refurbished at that time. The car was painted in its current livery, yellow over black interior with parchment seating. After 13 years, the car still looks great in all areas including paint, excellent chrome and bright-work, a highly detailed engine compartment, and a very tidy interior. Highlights include wire wheels, dual su carbs, banjo style steering wheel, moss motors interior, jaeger gauges, original data plate, wire wheels, full size spare, excellent convertible soft top, full tonneau, etc. The car has been serviced and looked after by the best people in the business including: little british car co. Of farmington hills, mi and internationally renown john twist of university motors. The restoration and service history back to 2003 is completely documented with all parts and service receipts all organized chronologically in a thick three ring binder. Recent notable service includes complete lubrication of engine, chassis, and suspension components, full brake service, new crank seal and sleave, new hoses, new king pin seals, speedo cable, spring pads and bushings, timing cover gasket, transmission seal, all new fluids etc. Mga’s are wonderful cars to own and a spirited car to drive. The car has been treated to a complete restoration finished in iris blue exterior paint with grey fender welting, brand new moss motors interior with correct coordinating piping on, highly detailed engine bay, excellent chrome and brightwork and restored frame and underside.
