The cars were continuously developed, however, the arrival of the twelve cylinder engine changed the cars character irreversibly. The series ii cars featured a host of changes to modernize the car, including larger lights and many changes introduced on the series 1. 5 cars including stromberg carburetors and safer interiors. While lacking the purity of the early cars, they provide substantially the same experience and are dramatically less expensive, generally about half the price of a comparable series i. This particular xke it has been maintained with no expense spared by its current owner with most services occurring at british motor specialist . The car has received careful service. The thoroughness of the care is evident, the cars striking paintwork remain in good condition and show well. The paintwork is generally free of scratches. The car was repainted in a portion of the nose, other than that car still in original paint. The paint presents strongly overall with a few small blemishes and the occasional chip. Overall, the chrome on the car is good. Glass in the car is good overall and appears to be original. The overall cosmetic impression of the car is strong and these small blemishes are only evident upon close inspection. The cars interior is still very soft and supple and is correct in appearance. The dash top appears in like new condition and is excellent, as are the carpets. The balance of the interior appears to be original and is correctly presented and in very good shape. The switches and instruments are in very good condition as well. The cars wooden wheel and shifter appear original and show some wear to the varnish. The engine of the car is clean and shows well, showing much evidence of recent maintenance and originality. The wiring is tidy and an aftermarket aluminum radiator has been installed to improve the everyday drivability and usability of the car. The remainder of the engine compartment is tidy and quite clean for a driver level street car. Behind the wheel, this e-type is a pleasure. The engine displays good oil pressure, with fifty pounds indicated at idle when warm. The cooling system maintains proper temperature thanks to the additional cooling capacity from the aluminum radiator. The car is generally fantastically smooth in operation. The transmission is in good order with smooth synchronizers and the correct amount of clutch free-play. The engine pulls strongly and smoothly to redline without misses. The brakes stop well and straight with no pulsation. Overall, the car drives nicely in keeping with its status as a clean and well-maintained 34,000 mile vehicle.

I have used top quality parts from xks unlimited in all the repairs. The engine was rebuilt in 2005 and only has 200 miles on it since that time. Stromberg carburetors were rebuilt at a cost of $700 last year. The interior includes new leather, carpeting, headliner and door panels, all done in the most meticulous care in 2014. The car was resprayed in 2007 with all new seals and rubber kit throughout. This car has a sorrowful past with the original owner, charles k freeman, buying the car in may of 1970 and spending some time in arkansas before being shipped out from the naval academy in annapolis to vietnam where he lost his life. His parents, in their grief put the car in a warehouse and that is where i found it 28 years later. The 44,000 mile are all original. There is no rust on the car and all numbers are matching. Chrome bumpers are excellent shape all around. All chrome is also excellent. Wire wheels are in great shape with newer tires. No visual rust that i can see, all sheet metal is solid. The only thing the car might need in future is it has a slight valve tap when cold. Its been doing it ever since i bought the car years ago and has never gotten any worse. Runs and drives excellent. I’ve owned the jaguar for 7 years, having purchased it from a gentleman in colorado who had owned it for many years and took obvious pride in the car. He only sold it because he was getting on in years. First, there is no rust on the jaguar visible anywhere. The previous owner had reputedly rebuilt the engine, although i have no receipts to confirm; just a few pictures of the fresh engine on a stand prior to installation. The car was originally a robin’s egg blue color which can still be seen in the spare tire wheel well and behind the dash. The previous owner had the xke re-sprayed old english white. I’d estimate the paint is at least 10 years old. Most of the chips in the paint finish are along the leading edges of the bonnet and doors which i have touched up. The engine has remained in stellar working order. It is quiet, never runs hot, is very powerful and uses little to no oil. (it does drip some oil at rest but nothing out of the ordinary.) the gearbox is excellent and all mechanical and electrical systems function as they should with the exception of the clock and original radio which works but doesn’t sound all that great. I have receipts for thousands of dollars of work carried out since i’ve owned the car. The smaller jobs and strict routine maintenance, i’ve done myself. The more involved repairs were entrusted to the preeminent independent jaguar repair facility in this region. These include a new clutch, pressure plate and release bearing, new cooling fan motors, front and rear brake rebuild, complete front end rebuild, gas tank cleaned and sealed, new drive shaft u-joints, reconditioned speedo and many more jobs carried out to keep the car in top driving condition. I purchased the tires several years back; they have perhaps 5000 miles and look like new. I’ve also replaced the seat bottom supports and foam, but re-used the original leather seat covers which are in remarkable shape for their age. Air Conditioning
