Prior to the war, trucks were very much a customized idea mostly built by carriage companies outside of the manufacturers including suspension, length of frame and more to get these vehicles capable enough for the job at hand. The trucks that did come from the factory from ford were built off the same chassis that their cars were built on which restricted the amount of space to work with as well as the capability. The first-generation ford f-series was introduced in 1948 and was the first post-war truck design that ford had created. This was very unique for the company as they broke off from using their car chassis and opted for a dedicated truck platform. This proved to be a very good move for the company as it went on to be more capable and gave many options to broaden the utilitarian purpose of their vehicle. From the f-1 all the way to their f-8, these trucks came with different engine choices, bed lengths, weight ratings and purposes such as a parcel truck or school bus. The truck came from the dry climate of arizona and remains incredibly solid. The truck does have few bumps and bruises, but it pulls of the nostalgic look very well! It is powered by a 350 v8 paired with 350 auto transmission. According to the owner the engine and transmission have been rebuilt. All the engine accessories were replaced at the time of rebuild such as the alternator, starter, water pump, fuel pump and it was given a new edelbrock 600cfm carburetor. At the time of restoration, the truck was given all new shocks, new brake lines, new wilwood power brake setup, new wheel cylinders, new brake drums and components, new 12 volt "ez wiring" harness and more. The truck was lowered in the front by a 3" drop axle from speedway motors and the rear end was flipped on top of springs and a new balanced driveshaft was installed. The truck has new front and rear windows, gas tank exhaust and more. The truck rides on newer coker white wall tires. This truck runs and handles very well and is a blast to cruise around in. Makes every effort to represent each vehicle accurately and with integrity. We also welcome third party inspections when necessary. She is 100% road ready, running hot loose and fast!! The engine is a built 350 small block chevy 30 over running 9. 5/1 compression and a reasonable cam, bolt block. Caddi repro batwing air filter. Jet hot coated edelbrock intake. It makes a real 350 horsepower spent gasses go out through the early 40's chevy fender well headers that have been flipped over for that evil look. Power is sent into a muncie 4speed , brand new hurst comp shifter, with new clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel. 9" ford rear with 3. 73 gears(open) is mounted with a triangulated 4 link. Frame is a factory built 2x4 heavy wall tube with strait front rails and a 18" rear. It is bagged in the back and will almost lay frame when aired out on its curve sitting on 18" new american racing steely rims and brand new 235 75r15 coker whitewall classic tires. Front suspension consists of a suicide model a front spring and a 4" drop axle from droppedaxles. The front links are true early ford split wish bones, pindles and front brakes are off the 50 f1, aster is a dual chamber. The cab is heavily altered with a 6" chop 6" section off the bottom and approximately a 12" channel. Seats are unpadded bomber style and the grill is from a 28 model t. Vintage beer keg for gas tank, seat belts installed. It's a blast to drive and gets all the attention everywhere i take it, real head turner! Most everything is new, rebuilt, true vintage. The patina is awesome and it's coated in low gloss danish oil for protection. Pics and words don't do this rat justice. This was finished last march and has less than 3000 miles on the whole build. The motor was installed in late june to replace the mockup motor so maybe 1000 miles on it…stainless headers. I have driven it 50 miles one way and maybe 150 miles in a day between shows and cruises. It does have heat and defrost installed for chilly mornings, also a manual choke in dash. 6'1" max maybe for driver.
