Everyone knows the story on the ford name and the importance of the first vehicles that ford produced to the mass public. The ford model a was the second huge success for the ford motor company, after its predecessor, the model t. First produced on october 20, 1927, but not sold until december 2, it replaced the venerable model t, which had been produced for 18 years. Spending the past 25 plus years in north carolina, this remarkable car would be a great addition to anyones collection or first swing at a pre-war automobile. Vehicle was converted over to a 12volt system and brand new front headlights with hi and low beams were installed along with duolamps in the rear with functioning running lights and brake lights. Turn signals could easily be added at any time. Vehicle also features the rear luggage holder along with rear spare tire/wheel with cover. Alternator was also upgraded along with new battery in the past year. Radiator guard completes the iconic front end look. Newer tires were added about a year ago when the wheels were removed and painted along with the brake system redone by local mechanic. The interior of this car really is impressive with all new leather seats, new period correct carpeting, door panels and unique headliner. Previous customer had over $4k invested in the interior alone. All features are working properly and windows go down and up, dash light functions properly and it fires up quickly without any hesitation. It was sporty, attractive, well-built, and smooth-running compared to the model t, which it replaced in the 1928 model year. Thousands of people were eager to see for themselves that henry's made a lady out of lizzie, and they stormed ford showrooms when the model a debuted on december 2, 1927. In less than two weeks there were 400,000 orders, and henry ford could not keep up with the demand for his latest gift to an increasingly mobile nation. Despite the onset of the depression, model a production remained strong at 1,261,053 cars in 1930 but fell to 626,579 cars in 1931, the last year that the model a was produced. The 1929 ford model a coupe 2 door offered for sale here features a rumble seat, luggage rack, dual spare tires with covers and a chrome radiator guard. The body remains all henry ford steel. It is covered in brown with black fenders. The paint shows some wear but is in good condition overall. The black vinyl top remains in good condition as well. When henry ford brought the production of his successful t to a close, the whole world eagerly awaited the new version to the car that put america on wheels. This was no small task as the t was produced for almost two decades with americans depending on the reliability and simplicity it offered. The ford motor company worked hard to ensure that the t's replacement would live up to the expectations of millions and when the first 4,000 model a's were built in december of 1927 they were all snatched up by eager customers by the end of the month. The rumble seat sport coupe was at the top of the line for coupes. They came with a soft top that does not fold down. The model a here has a rear mounted spare with cover as well. The balsam green paint remains in great shape as well. The yellow pinstripe that breaks up the paint scheme accents the body well. The interior is in immaculate shape and shows very well. The car rides on firestone whitewall tires mounted on 21 inch wire wheels. This 1929 ford model a sport coupe is a great running and driving car! I have taken this car on several trips myself and it always started very easy and drove very nice. The restoration is older, i would say 10-15 years ago, and everything was addressed at that time including all of the drivetrain being rebuilt according to the previous owner. The car still looks excellent and shows very very nice especially compared to other model a's i have sold that were similar in the restoration age. The sport coupe was the top of the line for coupes in its day and featured a soft top roof which was very popular. Everything on this car appears to be working properly. The price for a new one was US$500. The Model A was the first of fords to use standard driver controls, such as a gas, brake, and clutch pedal. It was also the first to use safety glass for the windshield. By the end of its production, 4,849,340 were made. The A was powered by a 201 c. engine producing 40 hp and reaching a top speed of 65 mph. The transmission was a standard three speed. The'A' offered here is a very solid, Henry Ford Steel, entry level model A. Runs and shifts well. This is the perfect car for parades, advertising and family fun. The upholstry is in good condition as well. She's 88 years old this year and looks great for her age. The car rides on 21 inch yellow wire wheels. It also has a rear mounted spare with a tire cover.

The model a was the successor to the model t. The model a was a huge success for ford. The model a was a big change from the model t with all the varying model choices and amenities. The styling from edsel ford proved to be a huge success and sales nearly hit 5 million in the production years of 1927-1931. The chrome shines well and is in excellent shape. There is a rear mounted spare with a leather tire carrier cover. The interior was also redone at the time of the restoration, including seats, headliner, door panels and new rubber floor mats. There is a curtain that covers up the back window. The material on the top appears to be new as well. It appears that this was an intense “nut and bolt” restoration. All the nuts, bolts and hardware, all appear to be new. We took this for a road test and it ran well and held the road nice and tight. The engine was rebuilt and the clutch is new along with a throw out bearing and pressure plate. The front spindles were replaced along with the distributor and it has fresh manifolds.
